Frequently Asked Questions
The practical stuff, answered plainly. Still wondering about something? The contact page reaches a real human.
How far in advance should I book?
For peak departures – Japan in spring, the Serengeti migration, the Inca Trail – three to six months is wise, as permits and small inns fill early. For most other trips, six to eight weeks is plenty. If you are flexible on dates, we can often work magic much closer in.
Are flights included in the price?
International flights are not included, which keeps your trip price honest and lets you use your own air miles or preferred airline. Everything once you arrive – transfers, internal travel, guides, most meals – is covered, and we are happy to help arrange flights if you would rather we did.
Can you build a private, custom trip?
Absolutely – it is more than half of what we do. Every signature tour can be run privately on your own dates, and we regularly design trips entirely from scratch around honeymoons, family reunions, and milestone birthdays. Tell us the dream and we send back a first draft within two working days.
How fit do I need to be?
It depends on the trip, and we grade every one clearly. Most journeys involve a few hours of walking on some days with plenty of rest. The Inca Trail and Alpine hut routes ask more; the island and culture trips ask very little. We will always tell you honestly before you book.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your deposit holds your place and is fully refundable for 14 days. After that, a sliding scale applies as we commit funds to inns and guides on your behalf. We strongly recommend travel insurance for every trip, and we are glad to point you to providers we trust.
Do you travel solo-friendly?
Very much so – around a third of our travelers come solo, and our small group sizes make it easy to fall in with the others. We do not punish you for it either: a fair single-room supplement, never a penalty, and you can always opt to share.
